Chapter Research Projects Chapter 20 Research Project - Due Date May 21st 1. Use library resources to discover how carbon-14 dating is used to determine the age of objects. Write a report on you findings. 2. Make a chart entitled "Pros and Cons of Nuclear Energy" that explains why Nuclear Energy could be good and why it could be harmful. 3. Prepare a lesson plan and related materials that could be used to teach younger students the concept of half-life. Teach half-life to a group of younger students. 4. Use library resources to find information on the nuclear accident that occured at the nuclear facility in Chernobyl, Russia. Prepare an oral report on your findings. 5. Use library resources to prepare biographical information about the Curies and their work. Present your findings in the "first person" as if you were Marie or Pierre Curie. Be sure to include vidual aids. *Each Science chapter has 5 options for a research project. The projects are usually a paper, presentation, or construction of a poster or figure on the various subjects of that chapter. Oral presentations can include a power point with appropriate bibliography. Projects are graded on content thoroughness, creativity, and neatness. Parents, projects are not designed to cost lots of money or a lot of time. Most materials can be found at home and resources are available at the library and on the Internet. Students will be given time in class to work on these, but are expected to do most of it at home. |
